What is Laparoscopic Surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that can be used to correct a number of health issues. Instead of one large incision, as used in traditional surgical practice, laparoscopic surgery uses a series of very small (0.5 cm to 1.0 cm) incisions and uses specialized instruments and cameras in order to perform the surgery. This provides a number of benefits to you as a patient, including less scarring, shorter recovery time, and usually far less pain than what can occur with many traditional surgical procedures.

Laparoscopic surgery uses state of the art technology, and is completely safe. When beginning the procedure, Dr. Otah can use the laparoscope in order to check and ensure that the laparoscopic surgery can be performed correctly and safely. If not, Dr. Otah can use a larger incision in order to perform the surgery safely.
